Neta
Neta is a slow fashion brand I co-created, born from the dream of making meaningful and unique clothes by the most sustainable means. The brand's identity relies heavily on its Brazilian countryside heritage and its purpose is to promote sustainable practices and ethical relationships between fashion and people.
Neta embraces eco-friendly manufacturing techniques such as natural dyeing, recycled textiles, and the use of a local and fair workforce. With a timeless but authentic fashion spirit, our target audience is women with a critical view of the world seeking personal growth and a more sustainable lifestyle.
Debut collection
The debut capsule collection came to life in 5 different looks inspired by Xica da Silva's life story, an afro-brazilian female historical character who lived during the 18th century. With shapes and silhouettes influenced by the fashion of that era - from the Robe à la Française to the Imperial style - and a hint of western elements, the collection pays tribute to the Brazilian countryside culture and fashion from past times. Everything is handmade, from embroideries and quilting to our woven leather belt.
The colors used were carefully selected after extensive research about natural dyes available locally. The whole dying process was made manually, using a range of flowers, fruits, seeds, and herbs, such as Pau Brasil (red), saffron (yellow), and black beans (blue). One interesting fact about natural dyeing is that the brightness and tone of the final color will always be different, even when the base material and process are the same, resulting in a unique, one-of-a-kind garment.
