PROMISS MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Promiss is a casual chic women's wear brand focused on women over 40 years old; the company is based in Diemen (NL). Its timeless designs are thought to embody femininity, class, and personality, always with lots of attention and dedication to the details.

While working as a design intern at Promiss, using Adobe Illustrator and Indesign, I created and developed along with the Product Development department a "Measurement Guide", a catalog containing all the necessary instructions and procedures for standardizing the practice of taking measurements from garment samples.

Although the company has been in the market for a while, measuring samples and prototypes was not an accurately standardized process yet. It became an issue once we got some prototypes using incompatible measurements with the size grid, which delayed the whole product development process.

My purpose while designing this guide was to make it as comprehensible as possible for anyone using it. Consequently, I included sketches illustrating each kind of garment and arrows indicating how to measure according to the instructions listed at the bottom part of the page.

I also thought that by adding some pictures highlighting some do's and don'ts would help to avoid mistakes while measuring clothing.

Besides instructions, the guidebook also provides some information about standard measurements for specific garment styles and the most frequently used finishings. After revising the content, the Head of Design approved the guide and by the time I left the company, it was ready to be implemented in the design and product development areas.
